Passwords, 2FA codes, addresses, private messages — your clipboard is your most sensitive data stream. That's why Pasteable is local-first and end-to-end encrypted: your history stays on your device, and when you choose to sync, our servers only ever see ciphertext. We couldn't read your clips if we wanted to.
Local-first by default
Your history lives in a SQLite database on your device. No account, no internet, no server required — it works fully offline, forever.
Encrypted at rest
Clip content is encrypted in the local database with a key sealed by your OS — macOS Keychain, Windows DPAPI, or Linux libsecret. Copying the file off your machine reads nothing.
End-to-end encrypted sync
Cloud sync is optional. Free includes 25 synced clips across your devices; Pro syncs up to 10,000 clips and larger files. When you sync, clips are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before they leave it — our servers only ever store ciphertext.
Your key, not ours
Your sync key is generated on your devices and stored wrapped, never in the clear, so our servers only ever hold ciphertext. New devices join only after you approve them from one you already trust.
Sensitive content protected
Password-manager output is skipped automatically, detected secrets are blurred in the shelf, and you can exclude any app from capture entirely.

How does the AI work?
Semantic search runs on your device and works offline. Pro also includes hosted AI actions for summarizing, rewriting, explaining, translating, extracting, and OCR. Pasteable manages the model securely, so there are no API keys, endpoints, or local model servers to configure. Cloud AI only receives content when you choose an AI action.

Is the installer safe?
Yes. The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, and the Windows installer is code-signed. Because Pasteable is new, Windows SmartScreen can still say “Windows protected your PC” until the installer builds download reputation — click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. Linux builds are AppImage and .tar.xz files: make the AppImage executable and run it.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
Only if you choose to. By default, everything stays on your machine in a local SQLite database and works fully offline. If you sign in and enable sync, your 25 most recent clips sync across your devices — end-to-end encrypted — including files up to 1 GB. Pro syncs up to 10,000 clips and raises files to 5 GB.
How much history does Pasteable keep?
By default, Pasteable keeps the last 90 days and the most recent 5,000 items — whichever is more generous — and it’s fully configurable in Settings. Favorites and pinned clips are never auto-deleted, and removing a favorite gives it a fresh 90-day grace window before it can be cleaned up.
Will it slow down my computer?
No. Pasteable is built for performance: virtualized, paginated lists (it only loads and renders what you scroll to), FTS5 search indexing, batched queries, and minimal background overhead — so it stays fast even with tens of thousands of clips.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Pasteable is offline-first — your history, semantic search, collections, and snippets work with no internet connection. Sync catches up when you reconnect; hosted Pro AI actions require internet.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export and import your database, and create backups at any time from Settings. Your data is always yours.
